Steamtrain Lamp πŸš‚πŸ’‘πŸ’¨

2024-10-05

I host a murder mystery every year and this time it was set in the 1930s on a luxury steam train, so I wanted to make a table centrepiece for that. I was inspired by (slide 8) this Rail Heritage WA photo, taken by N. Pusenjak in 1970 of a derelict H18 loco abandoned where the Bunbury centrepoint now stands. It has since been restored, but I really love the way it looks here too. I also used (slide 9) an image of a train model sourced from pinterest.

Handbuilt from Keane dark matter, etched, burnished and slip trailed with white stoneware, unglazed. I love the richness of this clay without glaze, absolutely gorgeous finish particularly on the burnished sections. Fired cone 10 oxidation.

The light fixture is a modified base from Ikea and the globe is from The Lighting Outlet.
